Elderly woman for court over Clondalkin stabbing

A man in his 70s was seriously injured after he was stabbed near his home on Monday

An elderly woman arrested in relation to the stabbing of a man in his 70s in Clondalkin in Dublin will appear in court on Wednesday.

The male pensioner was seriously injured when he was stabbed near his home in Monksfield Downs on Monday at about 5.30pm.

The woman, in her 70s, was arrested at the scene and remains in custody at Ballyfermot Garda station.

A garda spokesman confirmed she will appear before Blanchardstown District Court on charges in connection with the investigation.

Neighbours alerted gardaí after the man was found on the roadway with stab wounds.

He was taken to Tallaght hospital and his condition is described as serious.

Gardaí believe the injured man and the arrested woman are a couple and are treating the stabbing as a domestic incident.
