Five to appear in court after one garda injured during demonstration

Five people were arrested for public order and related offences outside the Department of Justice on St Stephen’s Green in Dublin last night.

The 6.45pm incident, in which one garda was injured, occurred following a protest which started at 6pm from O’Connell Street and proceeded to the Department of Justice.

The five arrested were brought to Pearse Street Garda Station, charged and released. They are due to appear tomorrow at District Court 3, Criminal Courts of Justice, at 10.30am.

The scene of the incident was preserved and investigations are ongoing.
