Gardaí have ruled out foul play in their investigation into the death of a six-month-old baby girl in Dublin.
While they are investigating the case for the inquest process, the matter is not being treated as criminal.
A postmortem examination on the child’s remains was concluded yesterday evening and ruled out foul play. A source said the case was being treated as a “family tragedy”.
The child died at the family home on Sherrard Avenue in Dublin’s north inner city on Tuesday morning.
The alarm was raised at about 7.30am by the child’s mother, who was in the house at the time.
When paramedics arrived at the house the infant was removed to Temple St hospital.
The child was in the house with her mother and three siblings when she died. Gardaí at Mountjoy Garda station are investigating.
