Garda Commissioner Nóirín O’Sullivan has held her first major conference with senior officers from across the force since she was appointed to the post last month.
Every available superintendent, chief superintendent and assistant commissioner in the Garda was in attendance at yesterday's conference in the Garda College, Templemore, Co Tipperary.
The estimated 250-strong group also included civilians working in executive roles for the Garda including in human resources, public relations and information technology.
Those present were given a comprehensive briefing on the new procedures in place to combat abuses in the termination of motorists’ and Garda members’ penalty points.
The reform agenda in the wake of the recent Garda Inspectorate report into how the force investigates crime was set out. Also under discussion was an imminent report from the inspectorate on the force’s structure.
The commissioner delivered a lengthy presentation, there was a question-and- answer session and a number of assistant commissioners also delivered presentations.
