Gardaí in West Cork hope to speak to a 49-year-old Lithuanian man found with stab wounds on a street in Skibbereen on Friday night.

The man, who has been living in the Skibbereen area for a number of years, was found injured on North Street around 11pm on Friday by men who were out walking.

He had received a number of stab wounds including one under his arm and he was rushed by ambulance to Cork University Hopsital where he underwent emergency surgery.

The man’s injuries were not life threatening and he was able to speak to Gardaí with the assistance of an interpreter, where he gave officers some outline of what happened to him.
