Garda spokesman says unclear wheter remains are human, animal or historic

Suspected human remains were found near St James’s Hospital in Dublin on Wednesday afternoon.

The remains were discovered when the roots of a tree were dug up near Grand Canal view behind the hospital at around 3pm.

Gardaí from Kilmainham Garda station preserved the scene and a forensic anthropologist will examine the remains on Thursday morning.

A Garda spokesman said it is not yet known if the remains are human or animal or if they are historic.
