Three men are in custody following the seizure of substantial quantity of drugs in Co Louth.
Gardaí targeting the sale and supply of controlled drugs in the Co Louth area searched a car near Drogheda during a planned operation yesterday afternoon. A quantity of drugs was found and a 28-year-old man was arrested at the scene and taken to Drogheda Garda station for questioning.
In a follow-up operation, a second car was stopped and an apartment was searched this morning.
Two men, one aged in his 30s and the other aged in his 50s, were arrested after a second batch of drugs was seized.
Gardaí said cannabis herb, cannabis plants, cocaine and heroin with an estimated street value in excess of €1 million were seized in the intelligence-led operation.
The drugs have been sent to the Garda Technical Bureau for forensic analysis.
The 28-year-old man was due before a Special Sitting of Ardee District Court this afternoon charged in connection with the seizure.
The two other males remain in custody at Drogheda Garda Station under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.
