Two young men have appeared in court in Galway in connection with a stabbing incident in the city last weekend.

Marcus Mac Comascaigh (18), Fana Glas, Ballybane, and Cur na Lus, Circular Road, and a juvenile who cannot be named due to his age, appeared before Galway District Court today.

Both are charged with assaulting Dominic Downes (18), causing him harm, at Church Alley, Ballymoneen Road, Knocknacarra, Salthill, in the early hours of Sunday morning last.

Det Garda Gerry Dunne gave evidence of charging both accused at Galway Garda station shortly after 9pm on Sunday. Mr Mac Comascaigh, he said, replied, “I know what I done” when the assault charge was put to him. The juvenile replied, “Nothing to say at the minute” when the same charge was put to him.

Judge Mary Fahy remanded Mr Mac Comascaigh on bail to appear before the court again on November 5th for the DPP’s directions in the matter.
