Two men arrested after weapons and drugs were discovered by gardai targeting gangland crime in Limerick have been released without charge.

Cocaine, cannabis, cash, ammunition and a Glock pistol were recovered by gardai during searches of a number of houses, apartments and other premises in the city on Thursday morning.

Six homes were searched as well as a number of sheds and outhouses in the Cornmarket and Lwr Gerald Griffin Street areas.

Two men, aged 26 and 37, were arrested and were taken to Henry Street Garda station.

A Garda spokesman said one was released late last night and the second this morning. A file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
