Two masked men threatened staff with a gun and robbed a hotel in west Dublin on Tuesday.

The robbery took place at the Finnstown Castle Hotel in Lucan, run by Jim Mansfield, son of late businessman and airport owner Jim Mansfield snr. The hotel was formerly owned by the Mansfield family.

A Garda spokeswoman said the two men entered the building about 4.10am brandishing what appeared to be a handgun at staff.

They took an amount of cash and escaped in a silver Audi A5 car.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to contact the Garda confidential line on 1 800 666 111 or any garda station.
