Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources Alex White has said no sensitive State papers were stolen during a burglary at his home last week.
The incident occurred at Mr White’s address in Terenure, Dublin, between 11pm on Thursday and 7am on Friday.
“A small number of items were stolen, most of which have been recovered, including the minister’s briefcase,” said a spokesman for Mr White.
“No sensitive State papers were stolen and there is no cause for concern in this regard. The minster believes this was an opportunistic burglary and he would like to put this matter behind him.”
A spokeswoman for the Garda confirmed they were investigating a burglary at a house in Terenure on the night in question. There have been no arrests to date.
The spokeswoman said she would not disclose what items were stolen in the burglary, but confirmed some of them had been recovered.
