A woman has died after a crash involving a car and a truck near Gorey in Co Wexford.

The incident occurred on the R772 Gorey to Arklow Road at Ballyloughan shortly before 3.30pm on Tuesday.

“An elderly female driver (only occupant) was fatally injured when her car was in collision with a truck,” gardaí said.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene and there were no other injuries as a result of the crash.

The stretch of road where the crash occurred has been closed to allow for a forensic examination by gardaí. Diversions were in place on Tuesday evening.
