Denis O'Brien's Digicel mobile phone operation has invested $60 million in Guyana and will start offering services this week.

The company is involved in developing a new network and has opened 50 retail stores.

In Guyana, Digicel Group vice chairman Leslie Buckley said there was huge potential for growth and that the firm hoped mobile penetration levels would double quickly.
