Weather warning in place and gale force winds expected

Strong winds along the coasts and heavy rainfall to come later in the afternoon

The weather will be wet and windy throughout the day, with Met Eireann warning that heavy rain may lead to potential spot-flooding.

The gusts will remain strong and turn more showery this afternoon from 3 pm. Southwesterly winds are likely to reach gale force along the coasts. The temperature will remain mild, with temperatures ranging between 11 and 12 degrees.

Met Eireann has issued a yellow weather warning, the lowest level of warning.

AA Roadwatch is advising motorists to take this morning, as the roads around the country as excess water and debris are a possibility due to the blustery weather.
