F1:Former technical manager Nigel Stepney has left the Ferrari Formula One team amid legal proceedings and accusations of sabotage.

"He is no longer our employee," a Ferrari spokesman confirmed on Tuesday.

The 47-year-old Briton last month accused Ferrari of waging a dirty tricks campaign against him after the team started a court action in Italy and initiated internal disciplinary proceedings.

He also denied media speculation of attempted sabotage.

The team has not given details of the accusations against Stepney, who played an important role in leading the pit crew at races at a time when seven times champion Michael Schumacher was at his peak.

In February, Stepney expressed unhappiness at management changes following the departure of technical director and compatriot Ross Brawn.

He was subsequently moved away from the racetrack and has been linked to a move to rivals Honda.
