GAA president Nickey Brennan has said that the GAA will not be involving itself in the ongoing dispute between the Cork hurlers and the management team. Speaking in Melbourne Brennan said: "We're disappointed to hear about developments in Cork, but Croke Park will not be getting involved in the matter at all.
"It's a local matter for Cork and we'll leave it to them to deal with anything that emerges from it."
The Cork hurlers have stated that they will not play for manager Gerald McCarthy, who was recently re-appointed for a further two years.
Captain Ben O'Connor has said the players have no problem playing for another management team but insists they are prepared to sit out this year's championship if McCarthy is not removed.
While on strike prior to this year's championship the players secured places for two representatives on the seven-man selection committee but it is alleged neither were consulted when the decision was taken to extend McCarthy's contract.
O'Connor has also claimed that some younger panel members were 'advised' to return to the panel to avoid jeopardising their future with the Rebels.
