GARDAÍ ARE investigating a fire which broke out last night at a house adjoining former Anglo Irish Bank chairman Seán FitzPatrick’s home. Emergency services were called to the scene of the blaze at a derelict bungalow in the Burnaby area of Greystones, Co Wicklow at about 9pm. The house was unoccupied and gardaí had no reports of injuries.

The flat-roofed bungalow was at the back of Mr FitzPatrick’s main residence. It used to be part of Mr FitzPatrick’s garden but this had been divided. It is not clear if the property still belongs to Mr FitzPatrick.

The fire caused extensive damage to the property. It had fallen into disrepair with sheeting over windows and doors

At least four units of the fire brigade and a number of gardaí were at the scene at Farm Lane off Whitshed Road last night.
