Medellin - A Colombian left-wing rebel group kidnapped four journalists just as another group was freeing two other kidnap victims, President Ernesto Samper's press secretary and a local radio reporter, officials said yesterday.
Police said the latest victims were snatched by Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) rebels on Saturday. They were investigating the abduction on Thursday of six mayors east of Medellin when about 15 FARC rebels grabbed them at a roadblock, police spokesmen said. A handwritten note from the FARC said they would eventually be freed.
