Climb4Concern invites volunteers to climb Mweelrea Mountain on March 2nd and to raise €50 for Concern.

Public lecture: Dysfunction, depression, delirium: what happens when the brain gets inflamed is a talk about neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease and other brain inflammations. It will be given by Prof Colm Cunningham tomorrow at 6.30pm in Trinity Biomedical Sciences Institute, Pearse St, Dublin and is part of the Biomedical Frontiers series of free public lectures organised by the School of Biochemistry and Immunology of Trinity College Dublin.

Leadership skills: The use of mindfulness practices to develop leadership skills is the focus of a workshop on February 11th from 10am-4pm in the Sanctuary, Stanhope St, Dublin. Climbing high: Climb4Concern is a fundraising initiative in which volunteers are invited to climb the highest peaks in all four provinces over the next few months. The first of these will be Mweelrea Mountain in Connacht on March 2nd. Registration fee is €25 and climbers are asked to raise €50 for Concern.

A new project called The Wellbeing and Dignity of Older People (WeDo) has just published guidelines for the wellbeing and dignity of older people in need of care and assistance.

With the aim of protecting older people from elder abuse, the guide sets out 11 quality principles to inform and inspire the care of older people. The Irish branch of this European initiative is a coalition of State agencies, voluntary groups and academic departments. It is co-ordinated in Ireland by Third Age. See thirdageireland.ie
