Six-year-old child airlifted to hospital after trampoline fall

A six-year-old girl has been airlifted to hospital with possible head and spinal injuries following a fall from a trampoline.

The incident occurred when the child was playing near the “Wood of O” area, not far from Tullamore in Co Offaly on Friday afternoon.

It is understood she suffered serious injuries, including a fractured arm, but the full extent of her condition is being assessed by doctors at Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital in Crumlin.

The Coastguard was alerted to the situation at about 5pm and immediately dispatched a helicopter which landed at a GAA field near to the scene.

The young girl was transported from there to a site in Kilmainham where she was brought by ambulance to the emergency department.

Her condition at that time was understood to be serious.
