Cotonou - Help is on the way for 186 Liberian passengers on board a Swedish ship which has been awaiting permission to dock in Cotonou for a week, a government minister in Benin said yesterday.

According the ship's Swedish captain and owner, Mr Kielberg Henning, conditions are deteriorating on board. "We have been very careful since the Etireno incident," said a port official, referring to a ship that provoked an outcry amid claims it was carrying child slaves.
