The chairman of the Irish Creamery Milk Suppliers' Association, Mr Tom O'Dwver, said there is "absolutely no justification" for a drop in cattle prices at the moment.
He called on meat factories to hold the price, pointing out that they had "the same export funds and intervention returns as they had last week" despite the green pound revaluation and the cut in new export refund licences.
