The inquest into the fatal shooting of a grandmother in her Tallaght home last Easter was adjourned indefinitely at Dublin County Coroner's Court yesterday.
Ms Joan Casey (65), of Avonbeg Park, Tallaght, was shot dead at her home on April 3rd, 2004.
Insp Gerard Carroll told the coroner, Dr Kieran Geraghty, that he was applying for an indefinite adjournment under Section 25 (2) of the Coroners Act.
The deceased's daughter, Ms Martina Casey, told the inquest she identified her mother's body to Sgt John Rice in Tallaght Hospital at 1.15 p.m. on the above date.
Summarising Dr Marie Cassidy's post-mortem, Dr Geraghty gave the cause of death as a shotgun round to the chest which caused haemorrhaging to the left lung and heart.
Adjourning the inquest indefinitely, Dr Geraghty expressed his sympathy to the family of the deceased.
