A 73-year-old man has died after he was hit by a car at Kilkeeran, Kilmaine in Co Mayo on Sunday night.
The incident happened at about 8pm.
The man was removed to Castlebar Hospital where he passed away in the early hours of Monday morning. A postmortem is to be arranged.
The female driver, who is in her 20s, was uninjured.
The scene is preserved and the road is closed for an examination. Local diversions are in place.
