Man killed on dual carriageway in early hours of morning; his identity has not been established

A man has been killed after he was struck by a car on the N2 at Finglas early on Saturday morning. Gardaí are appealing for witnesses.

A man has been killed after he was struck by a car on the N2 at Finglas early on Saturday morning.

The incident happened at about 3am inbound on the dual carriageway. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Gardaí have not established his identity at this stage. His body has been removed to James Connolly Memorial Hospital in Blanchardstown. The driver of the car, a man aged 50, was uninjured in the collision.

The stretch of road is currently closed to facilitate an examination by investigators and local diversions are in place. The road is expected to open shortly after 10am.
