Six school children have been taken to hospital after an incident in a swimming pool in Co Kildare.
In a statement NUI Maynooth said at around 10.30am "vapour from the swimming pool's plant room" entered the pool's ventilation system during a maintenance operation.
The pool was evacuated and 25 children were assessed by both the university’s medical team and the National Ambulance Service.
The HSE said approximately 15 response units attended the scene. Six of the children were brought to hospital; two were brought to Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin, two others to Tallaght hospital and the remaining two to the Children’s University Hospital, Temple St.
