Young female cyclist critically injured in Cork collision

A woman is in a serious condition in hospital in Cork following a collision in the early hours of Tuesday.

The woman, a cyclist aged 19 years, was in collision with a taxi at the junction of Anglesea Street and Union Quay at about 2 am.

She was taken by Ambulance to Cork University Hospital. Her condition is understood to be critical. The driver of the car did not require medical treatment.

The road at the site of the collision is closed pending examination by Garda forensic collision investigators. Traffic diversions are in place.

Gardaí at Anglesea Street station have appealed for witnesses to come forward and for those with camera footage, including dash-cam footage, to make it available to them.
