Washington - Dr Jack Kevorkian, the euthanasia campaigner, has been found guilty of second-degree murder for giving a lethal injection to a man who was suffering from the "Lou Gehrig disease" of progressive paralysis, reports Joe Carroll.

Nicknamed "Dr Death" for his role in assisting in 130 suicides, the 70-year-old pathologist was charged with first degree murder which carries a mandatory life sentence. Conducting his own defence, he told the jury that history would judge them harshly if they found him guilty of murder. Dr Kevorkian will be sentenced in Pontiac, Michigan, on April 14th and will remain free on bond until then.
