A reduced 30kph speed limit is to be introduced to more streets in Dublin.
The limit is set to be introduced along the city's quays and on city centre streets including Westmoreland Street, Dame Street, and D'Olier Street.
The move by Dublin City Council is designed to protect pedestrians and cyclists using the city centre.
The limit already applies to O'Connell Street, and parts of Talbot Street and Temple Bar.
To introduce the new limits streets will have to be recategorised as many are designated national primary roads.
The council has the power to determine speed limits on most roads within its boundary. However, The National Roads Authority (NRA)
has jurisdiction over the speed on all national primary roads, and the council must seek NRA approval for changes to them.
