A man (66) has been arrested by police investigating the suspicious death of a woman (73) in Co Down.
The woman’s body was found in a house in the High Street area of Portaferry at around 2pm yesterday. A postmortem is to be carried out to determine the cause of death.
SDLP councillor Joe Boyle said the local community was deeply shocked by the death.
He said: “This lady lived in the middle of the village and I knew her very well, in fact she was a customer at my takeaway business up to several times a week. There is a lot of shock and sadness in the village."
