A man banned from entering four Limerick housing estates following a rare application by the local authority has been jailed for two months for breaching the court order.
An exclusion order against Paul Crawford (33), O'Malley Park, Southill, Limerick, was made at Limerick District Court on July 12th.
During the application, gardaí claimed Crawford was a leading member of a criminal gang based on the south side of the city.
Following the lengthy application, Crawford was banned from entering four estates in Southill for 18 months, including the O'Malley Park area where he was living with his family.
At Limerick District Court, yesterday, Crawford was jailed for two months for breaching the order three times, twice last month and once this month.
In the latest breach, which took place on August 3rd, Crawford jumped from an upstairs window of his parents' home in O'Malley Park when gardaí came to the house.
Crawford was also seen in the O'Malley Park estate on July 22nd and July 30th, according to Garda evidence.
Solicitor for the accused Sarah Ryan told the court her client's mother had invited him to the house to have a bath and to get new clothes.
Ms Ryan reminded the court that the Crawford family had suffered tremendous grief in the past year, particularly after the murder of the accused man's brother Noel.
She said Mrs Crawford was finding it difficult not having her son Paul at home.
She said there was no evidence her client was involved in criminal activity during his sightings in O'Malley Park.
Judge Leo Malone jailed Crawford for two months on all of the charges and noted that the exclusion order was still in place.
