The man charged with the murder of Ennis hackney driver, Liam Moloney was yesterday returned for trial to the Central Criminal Court.

At Ennis District Court yesterday, Anthony Kelly (52) of Emlagh na Muck, Emlagh More, Waterville, Co Kerry, made his eighth appearance in court in relation to being charged with the murder of the 56-year old father of four at Portlecka, Ruan on February 11th last.

State solicitor, Martin Linnane told Judge Joseph Mangan in court yesterday that the Book of Evidence has been served on Mr Kelly and that the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) consents to the return for trial to the Central Criminal Court.

Judge Mangan certified for legal aid for senior and junior counsel to represent Mr Kelly in the Central Criminal Court.

The judge told Mr Kelly if he wished to produce an alibi in respect of the charge, he must give notice of doing so within 14 days.

Solicitor for Mr Kelly, Pat F O'Connor said that the case would now be listed for mention at the Central Criminal Court to allow a date be fixed.

Mr Kelly - a native of Ruan - has been on remand at Cork prison since February 25th last.

Mr O'Connor asked that Mr Kelly be remanded back to Cork prison and Judge Mangan acceded to the application.
