More than 20 gardai combed an area in north Cork yesterday for a man who had earlier evaded arrest and who is believed to be dangerous, writes Dick Hogan.
Armed detectives joined uniformed gardai in the search for the man, wanted for questioning in connection with an alleged sexual assault in the west Cork area on July 1st. Gardai called to the man's address in the Glenville area of north Cork, but he made off in a car. Checkpoints were set up around Glenville village on the main Cork-Dublin road. It is understood the man has already served time in jail for rape and assaulting a member of the garda.
