Two passenger trains have collided near Lewisham in south London

Two passenger trains have collided near Lewisham in south London. One man is said to have sustained minor injuries in the crash at Hither Green which happened at low speed.

One train went into the back of another and though both trains were damaged there was no derailment.

Emergency services are at the scene near Lewisham.

The crash happened in the rush-hour on the main line into Charing Cross. The trains are operated by Connex South East.

There was little damage and no smashed windows in the low-speed impact which happened at around 8.30 a.m., a Railtrack spokesman said.

"It was a very minor collision in which the two trains just clipped sides," he said.

One train was travelling from Sevenoaks in Kent to London's Cannon Street station while the other was going from Crayford in Kent to Cannon Street.
