A 21-year-old man has been taken to hospital following a paramilitary-style shooting in Newtonabbey last night.

A 21-year-old man has been taken to hospital following a paramilitary-style shooting in Newtonabbey last night.

The man was abducted at 7 p.m. by a group of five men in Derrycoole Way and forced into a car. He was taken to garages at West Crescent, near Rathmore drive, where he was shot once in the lower left leg and beaten with a baseball bat.

Police in Newtonabbey are appealing for information about the incident.
