A man arrested after he presented two forged £20 notes in a convenience store was remanded for a probation report yesterday. William Crowther (35), of Carnlough Road, Cabra, pleaded guilty to uttering the forged notes at a local Centra Store on April 24th.
Dublin District Court heard that the defendant, a separated man with no previous convictions, had believed the notes to be legal tender. He had a tragic family background, having lost a son through drugs and a grandchild through illness. Judge Con O'Leary remanded the defendant on bail to January 12th.
