A radio station will broadcast a special Mass tomorrow to pray for good weather as the fodder crisis continues. Midwest Radio has agreed to broadcast the Mass from St Patrick's church in Ballyhaunis, Co Mayo, at noon.
The station described farming as the "heart and soul" of everyday life in the region. Station manager Tommy Marren appealed to the public to attend the Mass.
Meanwhile, Stena Line has offered reductions of up to 20 per cent to hauliers importing fodder with the Irish Cattle and Sheep Farmers’ Association.
The preferential rates on Stena’s Irish Sea crossing follow a meeting between a delegation from the association and Stena representatives in Dublin on Monday.
