More job losses forecast in Wexford

The future of one of Wexford’s largest employers Wexford Electronix is increasingly uncertain today. Workers at the factory were told the lack of new orders could force the company to close.

Wexford Electronix - which employs some 360 people in Wexford town - has been in financial trouble for some time.

Last year the company lost a number of key contracts for its machinery components. In December Mr Roy Jackson of KPMG was appointed as receiver to the company.

The company laid off 40 people last year when the global economic downturn hit orders for heavy machinery.
