Navy and Garda divers say they may be able to carry out a full dive at first light tomorrow for the missing Waterford boat, the Père Charles which sank last week with the loss of all 5 crew.
High winds and large swells have so far prevented divers from descending to the wreck - believed to be located two miles off Hook Head in Co Wexford - in their search for the missing fishermen.
But tomorrow the forecast is for milder weather and a spokeswoman for the Navy Service said they were hopeful of conducting a dive.
Five men - Tom and Pat Hennessy, Pat Coady, Billy O'Connor and Andriy Dyrin - have been missing since the Pere Charles went down off Hook Head.
The search for the men and two other fishermen missing from the Honeydew II vessel which also sank off the south east coast last week has ended for the day.
Earlier an Irish Coastguard spokesman said that searchers had found more pieces of timber from the Honeydew II which have been washed up near Kilmore Quay in Co Wexford some 40 miles from where the vessel sank. The Honeydew's skipper Ger Bohan and crewman Tomasz Jagla are missing. Two other crew members from the trawler were rescued.
