New Music

On Friday, the Crash Ensemble (right) opens its new relationship with the Project Arts Centre

On Friday, the Crash Ensemble (right) opens its new relationship with the Project Arts Centre. They embark on a residency which involves new commissions, a young composers' forum, a website, a festival (scheduled for September 2001), and a CD-ROM project. And, of course, it will involve regular concerts, too. Crash's opening programme will include works by Gerard Grisey (Talea), Tristan Murail (La barque mystique and Treize couleurs du soleil couchante), and Kaija Saariaho (Pres), giving Irish music-lovers their best exposure yet to spectral music. And there are also works by Dublin composer Siobhan Cleary (a work entitled It's D, Jim, but not as we know it), and Giacinto Scelsi (Le reveil profond). Friday's programme is repeated on Saturday 16.
