Cable company NTL today denied it is in talks with Chorus over a possible sale of its operations in Galway and Waterford.
In a statement, the company said: "Both regions are an integral part of NTL's operations in Ireland and will remain so. NTL remains committed to Ireland and the development of its business in Ireland".
NTL’s cable licence is under pressure following a decision to delay the introduction of digital services to some 360,000 customers in its franchise areas in Dublin, Waterford and Galway.
Under the existing legislation, the regulator Ms Etain Doyle has the power to revoke NTL's cable licence if it fails to fulfil a requirement to supply more than 100,000 homes with digital services by March 2001.
