A “would-be robber” was thwarted after being caught by a man in a Superman costume.
Antonio Cortes (32) who was dressed as the caped hero for a charity fundraiser, went to the aid of the victim at a bank in Gloucester city centre, UK, after hearing screaming.
Mr Cortes, who had been eating his breakfast in a neighbouring pub, chased the alleged robber down the street and apprehended him before the police arrived.
A 54-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident and remains in custody, Gloucestershire Police said.
Mr Cortes told ITV West: “I chased the man and I gripped him up and everyone was pointing saying it was him.
“I brought him back to the bank and held him down until the police (arrived).
“She was very relieved to see someone coming to help her. It was very ironic that I was dressed as Superman. I was happy to help and glad I was there.”
A police spokesman said: “The incident happened at around 11.40am on January 27th at the Co-Op bank on St Aldate Street in Gloucester.
“A man wearing dark clothing walked into the business and assaulted the victim. The offender was apprehended by passers-by including a man dressed as Superman.
“The victim sustained neck injuries and was treated by ambulance staff at the scene. A 54-year-old man was arrested and is currently in custody.”
