London - The former Chilean dictator, Gen Augusto Pinochet was taken to hospital yesterday for a brain scan, a spokesman said.
Gen Pinochet, who is under house arrest near London, faces an extradition hearing later this month after being accused of torture and other human rights abuses during his time in power from 1973 to 1990. A formal extradition hearing is due to begin, in Gen Pinochet's absence, at London's Bow Street Magistrates Court on September 27th.
