A Belfast man faces a life sentence after suddenly changing his plea during the second day of his Crown Court trial and admitted murdering a man he had stabbed to death last February.
George Elliott (30) of south Belfast stabbed Mr Robert McConnell (46) 26 times during a "savage" attack in his flat following an argument over a dog.
Following Elliott's guilty plea Mr Justice Higgins agreed to adjourn sentence until Friday to allow his lawyers time to prepare their plea of mitigation on his behalf.
