Cabinet today agreed to tackle the issue of internet safety for children.

Minister for Communications Pat Rabbitte sought agreement to establish an interdepartmental group to implement the 30 key recommendations held in a new report to be published this afternoon.

The iniative aims to ensure emerging technologies are safe for young people.

The Report of the Internet Content Governance Advisory Group will be launched this afternoon by Mr Rabbitte and the chairman of the group, Dr Brian O'Neill, head of the School of Media at Dublin Institute of Technology.
