Fianna Fáil has complained to the Government Chief Whip after today's Dáil business was rescheduled late yesterday.

The schedule for the House was revised, with Leaders' Questions being postponed until 7.30pm. In a letter to Chief Whip Paul Kehoe, Seán Ó Fearghaíl of Fianna Fáil said it was an "extraordinary" development. He wrote: "Having just received the revised schedule for the first week back since July, I find it extraordinary that the Government is now suggesting that Leaders' Questions be scheduled for 7.30pm even though there is ample time for it to be scheduled at 5.30pm after the Government's motion.

“This decision is particularly galling as Taoiseach’s questions have also been removed.

“I am requesting that this decision be revised and that Leaders’ Questions should be taken at 5.30 pm. I am also requesting that time be allocated for Taoiseach’s question time.”

The Dáil resumes today after its summer recess. It begins with a motion of no confidence in Taoiseach Enda Kenny which is due to be debated for three hours. Minister for Communications Alex White will take questions at 5.30pm followed by topical issues and Leaders’ Questions.
