The Police Service of Northern Ireland has begun a search for an inmate who went on the run from Maghaberry Prison.

Barry Kevin Donegan-Moyna, who has convictions for Grevious Bodily Harm with intent, aggravated burglary and assault, has been unlawfully at large since Thursday.

It is understood the prisoner was on temporary release from the institution in Lisburn, Co Antrim, when he failed to return.

The 22-year-old is about 5ft 5in, of medium build with brown hair and brown eyes.

The PSNI is urging the inmate to hand himself in to the nearest police station.

Police are also keen to hear from anyone who may have seen him over the past few days or who may know his current whereabouts.
