Rome - A leading Italian plastic surgeon who has asked health officials for permission to carry out the world's first penis transplant said yesterday he already had three patients waiting.
Two are women who want a sex change and would receive transplanted penises. Professor Nicolo Scuderi said the third is a man who had had his penis amputated in a sex change operation but has since "realised it was a mistake".
Dr Scuderi said it was not clear if a person who received a transplanted penis would be able to have an erection.
