Carrickmines residents will today meet officials from Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council for a seventh time amid continuing disagreement over the location of a proposed emergency halting site.

Residents of Rockville Drive, off Glenamuck Road, say a one-acre council-owned field adjacent to their homes is not suitable to locate the 15 people left homeless as a result of a fire that killed 10 people at a nearby halting site 11 days ago.

Tomorrow the survivors of the fire have to move out of the accommodation they have been staying in since the tragedy. They will remain in Dublin for the funeral service tomorrow of five of those who died, which takes place in Balally in the morning.

They will then travel to Wexford tomorrow evening for the burial of Thomas Connors, his wife Sylvia, and their three children, Christopher, Jim and baby Mary, on Friday morning. The family is due to return to Dublin on Sunday.

Among those who is homeless is Tom Connors (4), son of Sylvia and Thomas, who will be released from Crumlin children's hospital today.

The council hopes to come to a compromise with the residents of Rockville Drive before the Connors family returns to Dublin.
