Comprehensive studies into the health implications of mobile phone masts were called for by Mr in O Caolain. He said Sinn Fein supported having a modern telecommunications system but not one which was imposed regardless of the consequences for human health and the environment. There should be no more masts erected in built-up areas.
Delegates passed a motion demanding that commercial telecommunications masts be put up only in locations where there was complete agreement with the local community.
